Top Mafia Films

Below is a list of the top mafia films. "The Godfather" remains the pinacle of mafia movies with it's unforgetable view into the Corleone family, a fictional top crime organization. However, there are many great stories of the mafia.

Perhaps the most intimate look into a crime family was the HBO series the "Sopranos." We glimpsed into Tony Soprano's day to day family life while he ran his mafia empire.

Al Pacino and Robert De Niro have given many stand out performances in some of the best mafia films, as James Cagney and Edward G. Robinson did before them during the 1930s and 1940s.

My novel, "Don Carina" has found interest from Hollywood. There has been talk of turning it into a 12 part mini-series.

Carina Cunzolo/Russo, the heroine of "Don Carina," is based on interviews I held with her youngest daughter. While Carina stands as an anti-hero because of her many violent choices, I will let the reader decide if Carina is a true hero within the violent world she was forced to make her decisions.

The naive Carina is forced by her mother to marry Russo, The Prince of Naples, head of the Mafia/Camorra there before World War II. When her husband becomes incapacitated during WWII, Carina sees no one to take charge during this dangerous period other than herself. She manipulates the "family" to choose her and uses force as well.
